Restaurant Stories by Richard Lang

Sometime in the Spring of 2006 , I was invited to a delicious brunch at the home of Richard Lang and his wife Judith. Richard read to us a series of short stories he had written about restaurant experiences in Kankakee and Chicago, Illinois in his 50's and 60's youth. The stories were touching and at times we were all crying laughing. The idea was hatched to take these wonderful stories and release them as an artist book. Created at Trillium Press, the stories are each presented in actual replicas of menus from the period and encased in a beautiful linen box with a fork latch. There are seven stories in all.

Richard Lang is a man of many talents. He has been an educator, artist, poet, short story writer and president of Trillium Press. He is an inspiring speaker and performance artist as well and has delighted many as "the poetry jukebox" in which he dons the elaborate jukebox costume created for him by his wife Judith Selby Lang and recites (not just recites, but performs flawlessly) poems that are numbered and memorized in his head.

He is a force and we are delighted to present to you this exquisite collection, bringing together three great loves - art, literature and fine dining!

Restaurant Stories is available through the gallery. The edition is limited to 30 copies and is priced at $1400. The gallery is offering the book at $1200 to those who purchase during the December exhibition.
