Tor Archer

Tor Archer requires no introduction in the Bay Area. His figurative sculpture and book objects have been shown and collected for over 20 years. We are excited to have his work in this year's book show.

As a sculptor, Archer is familiar and comfortable with a variety of materials and can incorporate many elements into his work. Both his sculpture and his bookwork have a "reverential" feeling which seems to be signature. They are forms to hold meaning. The object, whether it is a figure or a book has a presence and asks you to stay and take something away from the experience. There is a wonderful flow between free association and meticulous craftsmanship. This is an artist who loves his materials and listens to them He has honed his skills and uses them in service to having something to say. Form and content resonate together.

Tor Archer received his Bachelor of Arts at UC Santa Cruz and his Masters at Boston University. His work has been shown at Charles Campbell Gallery and Hackett Freedman in San Francisco as well as galleries in Park City, Utah, La Jolla, CA, Telluride, CO and Seattle, WA.
