Macy Chadwick's prints and artist's books, published under the imprint of In Cahoots Press, often involve the themes of memory, personal communication and visual language systems. While at UArts, she extended the definitions of the book to include mixed media sculptures and installation. She currently teaches book arts to both graduates and undergraduates at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and teaches letterpress workshops at the San Francisco Center for the Book.

Macy has an MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking from University of the Arts in Philadelphia.  She has taught at the Oregon College of Art and Craft and in her own studio.  Her artist books have been displayed nationally and are in collections throughout the U.S.

Letter by Letter

We are thrilled to have this new Artist Proof for an upcoming edition of five books. The book is encased in a slipcase. It is made of mulberry paper dyed with persimmon juice. There is a knotted string, both real and pressure printed on each page. The book presents a language that is read by feeling the knots on a continual string. The text is letterpress and delicately sensitive. A beautiful and touching book.
