Jewelry by Ina
“I love creating something with my hands and being able to give my ideas a definite physical shape in precious metal. I find it fascinating how the metal bends and moves with only a few hammer strikes and to witness it take new form”.
Ina combines contemporary European designs with inspiration she finds in nature. She translates simple organic and sometimes geometric shapes into wearable sculptures. One of her favorite technique is fold forming. The metal is literally folded into a new shape. In many of her pieces she uses darkened silver and a fine layer of high karat gold in order to create subtle contrasts. Through texture she invites the viewer to further examine her work.
Ina was born and raised in Germany where she graduated from University with a M.A. in Language Studies and Economics. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in French Literature from the Sorbonne University in Paris. “For as long as I can remember I have been enamored of metal objects and the craftsmanship involved in producing it”. This fascination led her to eventually start exploring metal as a media. She studied jewelry fabrication and metal smithing in California and has taken many metal arts workshops. Ina travels a lot between the West Coast and Europe, both places from which she draws a lot of inspiration for her work.
