Petra Class

Petra Class was trained as a silversmith in Germany and spent several years constructing tableware. Her approach to jewelry making is informed foremost by the European tradition of applied art. She limits herself to creating jewelry that is wearable and also, to a big degree, to the materials traditionally perceived as precious. Within these limitations, she is able to develop her own language. Her contemporary aeshetic has a pure and elegant style that is distinctly her own.

As an artist, Petra would have to be considered a colorist. She presents a palette that is bright and clear and celebrates the natural character of each stone.
Creating rhythmic arrangements of disparate elements allows her to capture a variety of effects upon the viewer. This is refined work from an artist that knows how to respect her materials and show them to their best advantage.
